Joe: Alright, so we just finished up 2 Chronicles 17. What's the story in 2 Chronicles 18?
Bible Expert: Well, 2 Chronicles 18 starts out with King Jehoshaphat of Judah making an alliance with King Ahab of Israel.
Joe: Wait, wait, wait. This is the same King Ahab that married Jezebel and killed all the prophets of God, right?
Bible Expert: Yes, that's the one.
Joe: Wow, alright. So what happens next?
Bible Expert: Well, Ahab and Jehoshaphat decide to go to war against the Arameans. But before they do, Jehoshaphat suggests that they seek out a prophet of the Lord to get some divine guidance. So Ahab calls his prophets, but Jehoshaphat isn't satisfied with their answer and suggests they seek out a prophet of the Lord.
Joe: Whoa, whoa, whoa! So this King Jehoshaphat is actually a believer in the Lord?
Bible Expert: Yes, he is. So Ahab reluctantly agrees and sends for the prophet Micaiah. Micaiah tells them that if they go to battle, they will be defeated. But Ahab and Jehoshaphat ignore him and they go to battle anyway. And sure enough, they are defeated and Ahab is killed.
Joe: Wow, so what happens next?
Bible Expert: Well, Jehoshaphat survives the battle and is able to return to Judah. He then goes on to lead the people of Judah in worship and obedience to the Lord. He also sets up a system of judges in all the cities of Judah. And he is remembered for his faithfulness to the Lord.
