Joe: Alright, so what do we got here? We've got 2 Chronicles 24. What's the scoop?
Bible Expert: Well, Joe, this chapter is about King Joash of Judah who was one of the kings of Judah after the kingdom of Israel split. He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, and he repaired the temple and brought it back to its former glory.
Joe: That sounds pretty cool. So what happened then?
Bible Expert: Well, unfortunately the people didn't follow in his footsteps and they continued to worship idols and practice other forms of wickedness. So God sent prophets to admonish them, but they paid no attention.
Joe: So what did God do?
Bible Expert: God allowed the Arameans to come and attack Jerusalem and take away the treasures of the temple and the palace. They also killed many people.
Joe: That's terrible. So what did King Joash do?
Bible Expert: Well, he followed the advice of the priests, and he offered up a sacrifice to God. This appeased God and the Arameans were driven away.
Joe: Wow, that was some quick thinking. Anything else of note in this chapter?
Bible Expert: Yes, one more thing. After all this, King Joash died, and his son Jehoiada took the throne and reigned for a number of years. He also did what was right in the eyes of the Lord.
Joe: Interesting. So what's the lesson here?
Bible Expert: I think the lesson is that even when we make mistakes and turn away from God, if we repent and turn back to Him, He will forgive us. And even if we don't, He will still be merciful and provide a way out of our troubles.
