Joe: Alright, let's get into 2 Chronicles 21. What's this chapter all about?

Bible Expert: Well, the chapter starts out with King Jehoram of Judah taking the throne from his father Jehoshaphat and it goes on to tell us that he did evil in the eyes of the Lord.

Joe: Wow, that's pretty serious. What kind of evil?

Bible Expert: He followed after the idols of his father and the idols of the nations whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel.

Joe: Yikes. That doesn't sound good.

Bible Expert: No, it's not. He also married the daughter of Ahab, the king of Israel, which was against the commandment of the Lord.

Joe: So the Lord was obviously not happy with him. What happened next?

Bible Expert: Well, the Lord sent a prophet to warn Jehoram to repent from his evil ways, but he refused. So the Lord sent a plague upon Judah, and Jehoram died of the plague.

Joe: Man, that's rough. So what happened after that?

Bible Expert: Jehoram's son, Ahaziah, took the throne and he did evil in the eyes of the Lord just like his father. He followed after the idols of the nations and also caused the people of Judah to worship the Baal.

Joe: So the Lord was not happy with him either.

Bible Expert: No, he wasn't. So the Lord sent Elijah the prophet to warn Ahaziah to repent, but he refused. So the Lord sent a plague and Ahaziah died.

Joe: Man, it's like a tragic history lesson! So what happened after that?

Bible Expert: Ahaziah's brother, Jehoash, took the throne and he was a good king who followed the Lord and obeyed His commands. He repaired the temple and dedicated it to the Lord.

Joe: That's good to hear. So the story has a happy ending?

Bible Expert: Yes, it does. Jehoash was a righteous king who honored the Lord and the people of Judah were able to enjoy a period of peace and prosperity.
