Joe: Alright, welcome back everyone - it's Joe Rogan here with another Bible expert. We're looking at 2 Chronicles 7 today - what's going on here?

Bible Expert: Well, Joe, this chapter focuses on the dedication of the temple that King Solomon built in Jerusalem.

Joe: Whoa, whoa, whoa - King Solomon built that temple? What is that all about?

Bible Expert: Yes, it was part of a larger construction project that King Solomon had initiated to build a temple where the Ark of the Covenant could be stored and worshipped. So, after the temple was completed, Solomon gathered all of the people of Israel together to dedicate it.

Joe: That must have been something to see!

Bible Expert: Yes, it was. When Solomon began to pray, God appeared to him in a dream and said that he would grant him any request he made. So Solomon asked for wisdom and discernment to lead the people of Israel. God was pleased with the request and granted it, but he also said that if Solomon or his descendants strayed from God's commands, then his kingdom would be torn away.

Joe: Wow, that's a pretty serious warning.

Bible Expert: Indeed it is. Then, in response, Solomon and the people offered sacrifices to God and celebrated the dedication of the temple.

Joe: Well, that's great - what happened next?

Bible Expert: That's where the chapter ends - but it sets the stage for the rest of the book of 2 Chronicles, which focuses on the kings of Israel and their relationship with God.
