So, Joshua 22… here’s the deal. The tribes of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh had been given their land east of the Jordan River, and were ready to head back home. But before they do, they build an altar of stones, which causes a huge uproar among the other tribes. They think the other tribes are breaking the covenant by building an altar, so the other tribes send a delegation to the east to confront them. But when they reach the altar, it turns out it was just a memorial to remind the tribes of their history, not an altar to be used for sacrifices. So, the other tribes are like, “Oh, nevermind.” And Reuben, Gad, and Manasseh head back home, mission accomplished. The end.
