Good evening. Tonight we have a summary of 1 Chronicles 27. In this chapter we get a glimpse into the organization of the military in ancient Israel. We see that the army was divided into 12 divisions, each with its own leader and 24,000 men. We also find out that each month, a different division would serve the king, and that the king had a personal bodyguard of 37,000 men. It's like a royal version of the old saying, "an army of one." But then again, this is the same king who had 700 wives and 300 concubines, so, you know, "an army of one" is probably still too small for him.
