Listen up, soldiers! This is Deuteronomy 1. This chapter talks about how Moses was leading the Israelites to the Promised Land, after having been on a 40-year journey. God told Moses to appoint wise and understanding leaders from each of the twelve tribes to help him lead the people. Moses sends out spies to check out the land and when they come back, they report that the land is full of strong people and fortified cities. The people get scared and refuse to go in. As punishment, God tells them that they will never enter the Promised Land, and they will wander in the wilderness for 40 years. So, stay sharp and don't forget what you learned in Deuteronomy 1, 'cause it's important!
