  • Chapter 2

    Listen up troops! Chapter 2 of 2 Kings is about Elisha succeeding Elijah as the prophet of God. After Elijah tells Elisha to stay behind, Elisha follows Elijah to Bethel, Jericho, and the Jordan River. At the Jordan River, Elijah is taken up to Heaven in a whirlwind and Elisha takes his cloak.

    LISTEN UP, YOU MAGGOTS! This is 2 Kings 3! We got a king of Israel named Jehoram, and three other kings of the surrounding countries. They were pretty ticked off with the king of Moab, so they formed an alliance to fight him.

    Listen up, Recruits! This is 2 Kings 4. It's all about a woman whose husband died leaving her with two sons and no money. She goes to the prophet Elisha for help and he tells her to borrow as many empty jars as she can and fill them with oil.

    Listen up, recruits! Chapter 5 of 2 Kings is all about Naaman, a commander of the Syrian army. Naaman has leprosy, and a young Hebrew slave girl tells him to go to the prophet Elisha in Samaria if he wants to be healed.

    Attention! Listen up! 2 Kings 6 is about a famine in the land of Israel. During this time, the prophet Elisha was living in a city and he asked the king of Israel to send him some wood from the nearby mountains.

  • Chapter 7

    Listen up, soldiers! This is 2 Kings 7. You better get it straight or you'll be doing push-ups. So, the Syrians were camped out around Samaria and had it under siege. But then four leprous men stumbled upon the Syrian camp, and found it abandoned! It's like the Syrians had just up and left! So they went back to Samaria and told the king what they had seen.

    Listen up, recruits! This is 2 Kings 8. First off, there's a king of Syria named Ben-hadad who's been causing trouble. He's been attacking Israel and King Jehoram decides to team up with Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom to fight him off.

    All right listen up! This chapter is about Jehu, this dude God anoints to be king of Israel. He's commissioned to go out and clean house, so to speak, and get rid of the wicked Ahab dynasty. He's gonna use a strategy called "the Jehu Revolution" and it's gonna be awesome.

    ATTENTION! 2 KINGS 10 IS ALL ABOUT ELIJAH'S PROPHECY THAT KING AHAB'S ENTIRE FAMILY WOULD BE WIPED OUT! THE CHAPTER BEGINS WITH KING AHAB'S SON JEHORAM SETTING OUT TO FIGHT THE KING OF RAMOTH-GILEAD. IF YOU'RE WONDERING WHY, IT'S BECAUSE OF AHAB'S BROTHER JEHU WHO HAD KILLED AHAB'S OTHER SON, AHAZIAH.

    LISTEN UP! 2 KINGS 13! THIS IS A TOUGH CHAPTER! THIS CHAPTER TELLS OF THE LAST DAYS OF KING JEHOASH OF ISRAEL. IT'S A SAD STORY. JEHOASH WAS TROUBLED BY THE KING OF SYRIA, WHO KEPT TRYING TO TAKE OVER ISRAEL.

    Listen up, you maggots! This is the story of 2 Kings 15. King Azariah of Judah is the main character. He was sixteen years old when he became King, and he ruled for fifty-two years. He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, but he didn't remove the high places.

    "Listen up, recruits! Chapter 16 of 2 Kings tells us about King Ahaz of Judah. He was a wicked man who disobeyed God. He even sacrificed his own son as an offering to a false god. He also made an alliance with the King of Assyria, who helped him defeat the King of Israel.

    ATTENTION! Listen up! This is 2 Kings 19. King Hezekiah of Judah is facing an attack from King Sennacherib of Assyria. Hezekiah takes the letter he received from Sennacherib to the Lord in prayer. The Lord answers and sends a message of hope and protection to Hezekiah.

    Alright, ya maggots! Listen up! This here's 2 Kings 20. King Hezekiah of Judah is gonna get some bad news: he's gonna die soon. But Hezekiah prays to God and God's gonna give him 15 more years of life. Hezekiah's gonna be so happy he's gonna give God a tribute.

    Listen up, maggots! This is 2 Kings 21. King Manasseh is the new ruler of Judah and he's a real piece of work. He's a wicked ruler who worships false gods and builds altars to them. But that's not all. He also sacrifices his own sons to these false gods.

    "LISTEN UP, RECRUITS! CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO OF 2 KINGS IS ALL ABOUT JOSIAH. HE'S THE KING OF JUDAH, AND HE'S TRYING TO REFORM THE RELIGION IN THE KINGDOM. HE FINDS THE BOOK OF THE LAW IN THE TEMPLE, AND IT MAKES HIM REALIZE JUST HOW FAR OFF TRACK THE PEOPLE HAVE GOTTEN.

    Alright, listen up, maggots! This is 2 Kings 24. King Nebuchadnezzar from Babylon has invaded Judah and taken King Jehoiachin prisoner. He replaced Jehoiachin with his uncle, Mattaniah, who he renamed Zedekiah.

    "Listen up, maggots! You want to hear about 2 Kings 25? Alright then, here's the skinny! This chapter starts off with King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon invading Jerusalem and laying siege to the city. The siege lasts for 18 months until the city finally falls and the Babylonians take control.
