Listen up, recruits! 2 Samuel 3 is all about war. King David has two sons, Amnon and Absalom, and it starts with Amnon raping his half-sister Tamar. Then Absalom plots revenge and kills Amnon, so he has to flee the kingdom. Meanwhile, King David's own son, Joab, is leading a civil war against him. The war ends with Joab's forces giving in and a peace treaty is made. But in the end, Absalom returns to the kingdom, and David has to choose between his loyalty to his people and his loyalty to his son.
