Folks, no malarkey! From the get-go, the Lord was with King David. I'm not joking. What was that? He was a man of war and a man of peace, literally. He was ready to make sacrifices to the Lord, and he wanted to build a temple in Jerusalem. But the Lord said, "Nuh-uh, not gonna happen, David. You're not gonna do it." See here, Jack, my father used to say, "If it's not meant to be, it's not meant to be." So, David's son Solomon got to do it, and the Lord sent word to Solomon to get ready to build the temple. David gave him the plans and the money and the supplies, and Solomon got to work. He did a heck of a job, I tell you what. I mean, it was a beauty. But David was still around, and he gave Solomon advice on how to run the temple. David even told him how to keep it holy. "Listen, Jack," he said, "you've got to follow the rules to make sure God's presence stays in the temple." So, Solomon did what his dad said. He followed the rules, and the Lord blessed the temple. Now that's what I call the power of a father's wisdom!
