(Batman and Robin have just entered the Batcave)
Robin: Holy Leviticus, Batman! What's the plan?
Batman: We need to figure out what's in Leviticus 16, Robin.
Joker (appearing out of nowhere): I can help with that one, Batty! In this chapter, God gives instructions to Moses on how the Israelites should handle their annual Day of Atonement. On the day, the high priest must enter the Holy of Holies and offer a bull as a sin offering for the people. Then two goats are selected for the scapegoat ritual. One is sacrificed and the other is sent into the wilderness.
Robin: That's a lot of details!
Batman: Indeed! But there's more. The high priest must also offer a ram as a burnt offering and sprinkle seven times with its blood. He must also put some of the blood on the horns of the altar and pour the rest out at the base. This is all done to make atonement for the sins of the people.
Joker: Ah, what a blood bath!
Batman: Joker, I suggest you make yourself scarce.
Joker: Right-o, Batty! (Joker quickly exits).
Robin: So, that's Leviticus 16?
Batman: That's right, Robin. The rituals in this chapter are essential to understanding the role of atonement in Judaism.
