Batman: Ah, Robin, the latest chapter of the Bible is 2 Kings 17.

Robin: Gosh, Batman, what does it say?

Batman: It's a sad story, Robin. In this chapter, the Lord sends Israel into exile for their sins.

Joker: Ha ha ha! That's a riot! So, what happened?

Batman: It says that the Lord used the Assyrian Empire to punish Israel for not listening to him and for worshiping other gods. So, the Assyrians took the Israelites into their country and made them Assyrian citizens.

Catwoman: But what happened to the Israelites?

Batman: Well, it says that the Israelites did not follow the laws of the land, so the Lord sent lions among them to punish them. The Assyrians were so scared of the lions that they sent a priest to teach the Israelites the laws of the land.

Riddler: So, did the Israelites learn their lesson?

Batman: Unfortunately, no. Even after the priest taught them the laws, they still continued to worship other gods. So, the Lord sent them into exile in foreign countries.

Penguin: That's a sad story. What happened to the Israelites after they were exiled?

Batman: It says that the Lord allowed some of them to return to their homeland, but most stayed in exile and adopted the customs and religions of the foreign countries they were living in.
