Peter: Alright, so in Amos 2, we learn that the Lord is punishing the nation of Israel for their wickedness. He says they’re going to be destroyed by the sword, they’re gonna be exiled, and they’re gonna be taken away.

Lois: Oh great, just like that episode of Friends where Rachel and Ross break up.

Quagmire: Oh, I know what you mean. Just like when Homer Simpson said, “D’oh!”

Cleveland: Yeah, it’s a real bummer. So the Lord is also punishing Israel for how they’ve treated the poor and oppressed, and how they’ve disregarded the laws and commandments of God.

Peter: Yeah, this is like when Thelma and Louise drove off that cliff in the movie – it’s a rough situation for everyone involved.

Lois: And then the Lord says that all their idols and altars are going to be destroyed and that they’ll be carried away into exile.

Quagmire: Just like when Darth Vader said, “I am your father” in The Empire Strikes Back.

Peter: Yeah, it’s a tough situation for everyone. But the Lord does promise that He will restore Israel once they repent and turn back to Him.

Cleveland: That’s like when Harry Potter defeated Voldemort in the final battle. It’s a happy ending, but you gotta get through the tough times first.
