Well, folks, in Ezra 3, the people of Israel return to Jerusalem and rebuild the altar of the Lord. They also sacrifice burnt offerings and thank offerings, making offerings of bulls and rams. They also offer up a lot of grain and wine. But you know what they didn’t offer up? A good time! Because despite all that, the people are still mourning over the destruction of the temple. Oh, and they also appointed a bunch of Levites to sing praises to the Lord and offer prayers. So yeah, it’s pretty much exactly what you’d expect from an ancient Jewish ceremony.
