Listen, Jack, here's the deal. Job 4 is about Eliphaz, one of Job's friends, who is trying to convince him that all of his suffering is his own fault. Eliphaz starts off by saying that he has seen amazing things and heard amazing stories. He literally says, "My ears had heard of you, but now my eyes have seen you." C'mon, man! Eliphaz then says that Job's suffering is a punishment from God because he must have done something wrong. He then tells Job to be careful what he says because even in sleep, God's anger can strike. Eliphaz then tells Job not to mock God and get away with it - no malarkey! See here, Jack, my father used to say, "People are destroyed by their own words". I'm not joking. Eliphaz then says that people who are innocent and upright will be saved, and that Job should take comfort in that. What was that, or uh, you know, Job should accept his suffering because it's God's will. Not gonna happen! I tell you what, folks, God will not hold people accountable for something they didn't do, so Job should trust in God. Excuse me, but Job should remember that God is powerful, and God will not let the righteous suffer forever.
