Well, folks, Hosea 3 is a real wild ride. Basically, God commands Hosea to buy his unfaithful wife back from her new lover in exchange for 15 shekels of silver and a bushel of barley. That's right, 15 shekels and a bushel of barley - what a deal! So Hosea does it, but not without making a few digs at her in the process. He basically says, "Well, if you don't want to be my wife, at least you can be my mistress." Then God tells Hosea to stay with her even after she comes back - and it's gonna be a long time - but don't expect any physical love between them. So yeah, Hosea 3 is pretty weird.
