Listen up, ya heathens! This is Matthew 20. You better listen up and listen good! You got Jesus and his disciples, and they're on the way to Jerusalem. Jesus tells 'em a parable. In it, he says the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who hires laborers for his vineyard. The landowner pays 'em all the same, even though some of 'em worked longer than others. Jesus then tells 'em, "the last shall be first and the first shall be last." He's talkin' about how God will treat those who follow him, no matter when they come to it. Then, two of the disciples, James and John, come up to Jesus and they ask to sit at his right and left hand when he's in his glory. Jesus tells 'em, "You don't know what you're askin' for." He explains that it's God's decision, not his. He also tells the other disciples not to be jealous of James and John. In the end, Jesus makes it clear that everyone who follows him will be rewarded. That's it. Now get outta here!
