"Listen, Jack, 1 Kings 5 is a doozy, no malarkey! Here's the deal: King Solomon, who was a literal genius, wanted to build God's temple, and he set out to get the cedarwood he needed for the project. So he went to King Hiram of Tyre, who agreed to give him the wood if Solomon provided food for his army. So Solomon made a deal with Hiram that he would give him 20,000 cors of wheat and 20,000 cors of pure oil every year in exchange for the cedarwood. My father used to say that was a pretty good deal, and I'm not joking.

Then Solomon set out to get the stone he needed for the project and he hired 30,000 Israelites to work on the temple. He also hired 70,000 laborers to transport the stones and 3,600 supervisors to oversee the project. See here, Jack, it was an incredible feat of engineering that was literally impossible for the ancients to accomplish.

Folks, this was an incredible chapter of the Bible, and it's no wonder why the temple was so revered for so long. Excuse me, but what was that? Oh, Solomon also had a fleet of ships that sailed to Ophir to get the gold and silver for the temple. Or uh, you know, that's not gonna happen today! I tell you what, the Bible is full of amazing stories and 1 Kings 5 is no exception.”
