Listen, Jack, here's the deal: 1 Kings 20 is all about Ahab, the king of Israel, and Ben-Hadad, the king of Syria. Ahab and Ben-Hadad had a disagreement, and Ben-Hadad asked Ahab to give back all the cities and silver and gold that he had taken from him. Ahab agreed to this and they made a treaty. But then Ben-Hadad broke the treaty and he went and took all the cities of Israel.

Ahab was so angry that he decided to go and fight Ben-Hadad. He called together all the men of Israel and they marched out to battle. But when they got there, Ahab saw that Ben-Hadad was surrounded by a huge army and so he told the people of Israel to go back home.

But then a prophet told Ahab, “This is what the Lord says: You will soon defeat Ben-Hadad and his army.” So Ahab and the men of Israel went back to battle and they won a great victory. Not gonna happen, c'mon man! They killed Ben-Hadad and all his men and captured the cities.

My father used to say, “The Lord gives victory to those who trust in him.” Ahab trusted in the Lord and he was victorious. So, folks, what was that? Don't forget to remember that the Lord is always with us, no malarkey!
