Well, this chapter of the Bible is all about Job, who's a real downer, if you ask me. Job is feeling sorry for himself, talking about how short life is and how he can't escape his suffering. He talks about how he's only human and his life is full of sorrow. →

Joe: Alright, so, Job 14. What’s going on in this chapter? Bible Expert: Well Joe, Job is continuing to lament his suffering and he’s expressing his belief that even if he were in the grave, he would still hope for restoration from God. →

Alex Trebek: Alright, so let's talk about you. What do you do for a living? Contestant: Well, actually, I'm an avid Bible reader and I wanted to share a summary of the book of Job, chapter 14. Alex Trebek: [sighs] Of course you are. →

Job 14: Job talks about how brief man's life is, how frail he is, and how he can't wait for his days on Earth to be over. He laments that he can't control his destiny and that his days are numbered. He wishes for God to forgive his sins and give him peace in death. →

Joker: Ha ha ha! You won't be able to keep up with me this time, Batman! Batman: Not so fast, Joker! We'll be studying the Bible today. In Job 14, it says, "Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble. →

Folks, here's the deal. Job 14 tells us that, excuse me, literally, life is short. My father used to say, c'mon man, you can't expect it to last forever, no malarkey. I mean, what was that? The days of mankind are numbered, or uh, you know, if you're lucky you might get like a hundred years. →

Job 14 is a bigly sad chapter! There's a lot of talk about how Man is born to trouble, and how his days are short, and how he wastes away quickly, like a flower - very, very sad! But, there's still some hope, because God will send down His grace and mercy - and that's terrific! Many people are saying that God will even accept us when we've gone through a lot of trouble, and that's amazing. →

Peter: Alright, here's Job 14. So, Job's all like: "Man dies and is laid low, and man breathes his last, and where is he?" And then he's like, "As waters evaporate from the sea, and the river runs dry and is drained, so man lies down and does not rise until the heavens are no more; he will not awaken, nor be roused out of his sleep. →
