Good evening, I'm Norm MacDonald and this is Bible Update. We're gonna take a look at the book of Ephesians, chapter 1. Paul starts off with his usual greeting, saying "Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. →

Joe: Alright, so what do we got here? Ephesians 1, right? Bible Expert: That's right, Joe. This chapter is all about Paul's prayer for the Ephesians. Joe: What kind of prayer? Bible Expert: Well, Paul is praying for the Ephesians to be strengthened in the Lord and to understand God's will, so they can live in the fullness of the grace of God. →

Alex Trebek: Alright, so tell me a bit about yourself. Contestant: Well, I'm a big fan of the Bible. I'd like to give you a brief summary of Ephesians 1. Alex Trebek: (Exasperated) Ugh. Alright, if you must. →

Listen up, recruits! In Ephesians 1, God makes it clear that all of us are chosen in Him, before the world was even made. He has given us all a destiny of hope, sealed to us through the Holy Spirit. He's also given us all the riches of His grace, which He lavished on us through Jesus Christ. →

Batman: Greetings, Robin. This chapter of the Bible is about the glorious blessings that the Lord has bestowed upon us. Robin: Yes, Batman. We are truly blessed! Batman: Indeed, Robin. Paul writes that we have been chosen in Christ before the creation of the world, and made holy and blameless in Gods’ sight. →

Folks, here's the deal: Ephesians 1 is about God's glorious plan for our lives. Not gonna lie, it's a big plan. My father used to say, 'When God has a plan, you can't mess with it'. See here, Jack, that plan is literally to make us holy and blameless in his sight. →

Ephesians 1 is a terrific chapter, believe me. It talks about God's amazing grace and how he chose us to be saved, even before the creation of the world. It's unbelievable, very, very unbelievable. God chose us to be holy and blameless in his sight, and he did it out of love. →
