Recruits! Listen up! This is Ezekiel 3. Ezekiel was in exile in Babylon, and he was called to be a prophet—a messenger from God. God told Ezekiel to listen carefully to what he was saying, and to obey what he commanded. Then, Ezekiel was given a scroll with words of lamentation, mourning, and woe written on it. God told Ezekiel to eat the scroll, and Ezekiel did. It tasted sweet in his mouth like honey, but it made his stomach bitter. Then, God told Ezekiel to go to the people of Israel and deliver the message He had given him—that God was going to judge them for their sins. Ezekiel was to be a watchman for the people, warning them of what was coming, so they could repent and be saved from punishment. That's Ezekiel 3 in a nutshell, recruits! Now get out there and remember what you've learned.
