Batman: Holy Scriptures, Robin! This chapter of the Bible tells us about a man named Melchizedek.
Robin: Holy High Priest, Batman! He was a priest who showed up and blessed Abraham - and he had no beginning and no end.
Batman: Exactly, Robin. It says he was like the Son of God, but without a father or mother, and without any genealogy.
Catwoman: Sounds like he had some serious power, boys!
Batman: That's right, Catwoman. The writer of Hebrews says that Melchizedek was greater than Abraham and even greater than the Levitical priesthood.
Robin: Wow! That's a big deal!
Joker: Yeah, but what does it have to do with us, Bats?
Batman: The writer is making the point that, if Melchizedek was greater than the Levitical priesthood, then the priesthood of Jesus - who is like Melchizedek - must be even greater.
Riddler: Fascinating! It sounds like Jesus' priesthood is much more powerful than the old ones.
Batman: Indeed it is, Riddler. Jesus' priesthood is eternal and not subject to the weaknesses of the Levites.
Penguin: That's pretty impressive, Batman!
Batman: Indeed it is, Penguin. And that's why Hebrews 7 is so important - it reminds us of the power and greatness of Jesus' priesthood.
