Listen, Jack, here's the deal. In Hebrews 7, we learn about the great Melchizedek, a priest-king of Salem. My father used to say, "No malarkey, this guy is some character!" See here, Jack, Melchizedek is a figure of Jesus, and though he was born a long time ago, he was like the King of Heaven and was never seen to die. What was that? It's like he was literally the King of Heaven, and he was a priest of God Most High. Excuse me, I'm not joking. He blessed Abraham when he returned from battle, and Abraham gave him a tenth of all his spoils. C'mon, man! Even earlier, in Genesis 14, it's mentioned that Melchizedek was a priest of God Most High, and that's why the writer of this chapter of Hebrews is so impressed with him. Not gonna happen, folks! He was a priest of God, and he was like Jesus in that he was a priest forever. I tell you what, he was the perfect priest for God's people, and he was a priest that could forgive sins. Or uh, you know, he was the perfect priest for us. So, Abraham paid him a tenth of his spoils and it was a sign of faith. See here, Jack, it's a sign that we should all follow. Literally, it's a sign of faith, and it's a sign of faith in God.
