Hey, everyone, this is Norm MacDonald here with your Sunday School Update. In Joshua 5, we got a look at the Israelites getting circumcised at Gilgal, successfully taking Jericho, and then the Lord making himself known to Joshua in a vision. →

Joe: Alright, so what's happening in Joshua 5? Bible Expert: Well, the Israelites have just crossed the Jordan River and are preparing to conquer the Promised Land. In this chapter, the Lord tells Joshua to circumcise all the males in the camp, because their ancestors hadn't been circumcised when they left Egypt. →

Alex Trebek: Alright, so tell me a little bit about yourself, [Contestant Name]! Contestant: Well, did you know that Joshua 5 is all about the Israelites crossing the Jordan River? Alex Trebek: [Sighs] Yes, I suppose I did know that. →

Joshua 5: Listen up! You hapless maggots! This chapter is all about the Israelites getting ready to enter the Promised Land. First, God tells Joshua to circumcise all the Israelites, something they hadn't done since they left Egypt. →

Joker: Ha ha ha! It looks like things are going pretty bad for ol' Joshua and his band of merry men! Batman: Not so fast, Joker! Joshua has just finished leading the Israelites in their victory over the mighty city of Jericho. →

Folks, I'm telling you, it's been a long time since the Israelites crossed the Jordan River and set up camp in the Promised Land, and they've been working hard ever since. Now, here's the deal: it's time for the Lord to give them a sign of His favor. →

Joshua 5 was an amazing chapter! After crossing the Jordan River, the Israelites were faced with a difficult situation: they had to defeat the powerful city of Jericho. But with God on their side, they won bigly! As commanded by God, they marched around the city for six days, blew their trumpets and the walls of Jericho came tumbling down. →
