Joe: Alright, so what's happening in Joshua 5?

Bible Expert: Well, the Israelites have just crossed the Jordan River and are preparing to conquer the Promised Land. In this chapter, the Lord tells Joshua to circumcise all the males in the camp, because their ancestors hadn't been circumcised when they left Egypt.

Jamie: Wait, why do they have to do that?

Bible Expert: Well, it was a sign of the covenant between God and Israel. It was a way of reaffirming that they were God's people.

Joe: Wow, that's intense. What else?

Bible Expert: After they were circumcised, they celebrated the Passover in the Promised Land. Then, the Lord appeared to Joshua and told him to take off his sandals because he was standing on holy ground.

Joe: Whoa, that's wild.

Bible Expert: Yeah, it was a pretty intense moment. Then, the Lord told him to have the Israelites march around the city of Jericho for six days. On the seventh day, they were to march around the city seven times and then blow trumpets and shout and the walls of the city would fall.

Joe: That's awesome! So did it work?

Bible Expert: Yes, it did! The walls of Jericho fell, and the Israelites were able to enter and conquer the city.
