Alex: So, tell me about yourself.

Contestant: Well, Alex, I'm a big fan of the Bible. In particular, I'm quite fond of Deuteronomy 9.

Alex: (groaning) Alright, if you insist. What's Deuteronomy 9 about?

Contestant: It's all about God warning the Israelites that they must obey his commandments if they want to take possession of the promised land. It also explains why they should not be afraid of their enemies, because God will help them in battle.

Alex: (sighing) I should have known. Anything else?

Contestant: Yes, it also has Moses recounting how the Israelites repeatedly disobeyed God's commands, even after he had performed many miracles for them. God was so angry at their disobedience that he wanted to destroy them, but Moses pleaded for mercy and God relented.

Alex: (rolling his eyes) Unbelievable. Anything else?

Contestant: Well, it also includes Moses telling the Israelites to be careful to obey all of God's commands and to not be deceived into thinking that their own strength or power will help them take possession of the promised land.

Alex: (sarcastically) Well, that's just great. Anything else?

Contestant: That's about it.

Alex: Thank goodness!
