Listen up recruits! Mark 4 is all about Jesus teaching in parables and the disciples trying to figure out what he means. Jesus tells them that the Kingdom of God is like a man who scatters seed on the ground. Some of it takes root and grows, while other seed is eaten by birds or gets scorched by the sun. Jesus also compares the Kingdom of God to a mustard seed that starts out small but grows into a huge tree. He says that his teaching is like a lamp that gives light to everyone in the house. Finally, Jesus says that his words are like a tiny seed that grows and multiplies in the heart of the listener and produces a bountiful harvest. So, recruits, pay attention and let those words of Jesus sink in. Dismissed!
