Listen up, Soldiers! This is Ezra 9! It starts off with the people of Israel getting called out for disobeying God’s commands and setting up alliances with other nations. Ezra, who is a priest, is devastated by this. He tears his clothes, pulls out his hair, and kneels down in front of God’s temple, asking for forgiveness. He then orders the people of Israel to separate themselves from the foreign nations and to purify themselves and their possessions. So, for three days the people of Israel fast and pray, confessing their sins and asking for mercy. Finally, the people of Israel promise to obey God’s commands, and Ezra is relieved and praises God.
