Alex Trebek: So, tell me a bit about yourself!

Contestant: Well, I want to start by talking about the Bible. Specifically, Ezra 9.

Alex Trebek: [rolls eyes] Alright, if you must. Go ahead.

Contestant: The chapter begins with the people of Israel confessing their sins of intermarriage with the surrounding nations. Ezra, the priest, hears of this and is deeply troubled. He tears his clothes and pleads to God for forgiveness. The other priests join him in his prayer and he fasts for the entire day.

Alex Trebek: [sighs] But what does Ezra do after that?

Contestant: He then sets up a tribunal to judge the people for their transgressions. He orders the guilty parties to be separated from the people of Israel and put away from the temple. He also orders that all the foreign items used in their worship be taken away. Finally, he orders that the people of Israel make a covenant with God to never again marry outside of their people.

Alex Trebek: [sarcastically] I can't believe I'm hearing this again. But, I guess I should be glad you're so passionate about the Bible.
