Listen, Jack, literally here's the deal with Romans 16: Paul's giving a shout-out to a bunch of folks, like Priscilla and Aquila, who have been helping him out with his ministry. He's telling them to be aware of those who would cause divisions and lead people astray. He also mentions a few others by name, like Epenetus, Mary, and Junias, who he says were in Christ before him- c'mon, man!
My father used to say, "You can always trust Paul to give a good word of encouragement!" He says that they should greet one another with a holy kiss- no malarkey!- and he wishes them peace and grace. And then, Paul tells the church at Rome to be wise and watch out for those who don't have their best interests at heart. See here, Jack, he says that God will eventually defeat everyone who stands against them. What was that? Or uh, you know, he's saying not gonna happen that they should be wise and stand firm in the faith.
I tell you what, Paul has a few more words of advice before he ends the letter in verse 24. He tells them to stay strong and to keep their faith in God, because God is able to strengthen them. Excuse me, he reminds them to be kind to each other and to stay united in the love of God. That's what Paul's saying in Romans 16.
