"Well, folks, in the Bible this week, we've got a real wild one. In Judges 8, the Israelites enlist the help of the Midianites to help them fight against their enemies, the Ephraimites. But then things get really complicated when Gideon, the leader of the Israelites, turns around and kills the Midianite kings. →

Joe: Alright so Judges 8, this is a weird one! Tell us about it, Bible Expert. Bible Expert: Sure Joe. So Judges 8 tells the story of Gideon and his rise to power. After defeating the Midianites, Gideon is offered the role of king by the people of Israel, but he refuses, saying that only God can be their king. →

Alex: So, contestant, tell me a bit about yourself! Contestant: Alright, well, I'm a big fan of the Bible, and I thought I would take this opportunity to tell you about Judges 8. Alex: [sighs heavily] Alright, go ahead. →

Ey! Listen up! This is Judges 8! Gideon is the main man here. He has a lot of enemies to fight, but God is on his side. He and his men go to battle and defeat the Midianites. He captures two of their leaders and puts them to death. →

Batman: "Greetings, Robin! We are here to discuss the eighth chapter of the book Judges!" Robin: "Golly, Batman, what's it all about?" Batman: "Very well, Robin. In the chapter, Gideon and his men were victorious in battle against the Midianites. →

Listen, Jack, so here's the deal. A long time ago, Gideon had a whole bunch of sons. But c'mon, man, there were no malarkeys here - literally, only seventy of them! He was a mighty leader of the Israelites, and I tell you what - his father used to say, "You're gonna do great things! Not gonna happen that you don't!" →

Gideon was a brave warrior, and he had just defeated the Midianites, BIGLY! It was an amazing victory, but then he had a problem. The people of Israel wanted Gideon to be their king! But Gideon was a humble guy and said, "No way!" He was like, "God is the ruler, not me!" But the people kept nagging him, so he made a deal: he said he'd give them some of the wealth of the Midianites. →
