Alex Trebek: "So, tell me a little bit about yourself."
Contestant: "Well, I'd like to start by summarizing Numbers 30. In this chapter, God speaks to Moses and explains that when a person makes a vow, they must fulfill it. If the vow involves something forbidden, such as sacrificing to a false God, then the vow must not be fulfilled. If the vow involves a woman, then her father or husband must approve of it before it can be fulfilled. Finally, God tells Moses to speak to the people of Israel and remind them that they must follow through with their vows."
Alex Trebek: "That's... great. So, um, what are your hobbies?"
Contestant: "Well, I'm also familiar with the story of Numbers 31. In this chapter, the Lord tells Moses to take vengeance on the Midianites for their role in leading the Israelites astray. Moses sends out a group of soldiers, who then return with plunder and a large number of captives. God commands the Israelites to kill all the male Midianites, while the women and children are to be kept as captives. The Israelites also take some of the animals as plunder and dedicate them to the Lord."
Alex Trebek: *Sighs* "Yes, that's great, but let's try to talk about something else. What kind of music do you like?"
Contestant: "Oh, I'm a big fan of classical music, but I also like to study the Bible. I'm particularly interested in Numbers 32. In this chapter, the tribes of Reuben and Gad ask Moses to let them settle on the land east of the Jordan River. At first, Moses refuses, saying that they must join the other tribes and cross the Jordan in order to take possession of the Promised Land. However, the tribes of Reuben and Gad offer to send a large number of their men to help the other tribes in battle, and Moses accepts this proposal."
Alex Trebek: *Rolls eyes* "Yes, I'm sure that's fascinating, but can we switch topics?"
