Numbers 30 is about an amazing set of rules for vows and oaths made by the people of Israel. God tells Moses to "make sure the people of Israel follow these rules" and Moses passes it on. The basic rule is that if a woman makes a vow or an oath, her father or husband can annul it - but if they say nothing, the vow or oath stands. There are many such cases, and God wanted to make sure that everyone was held to their word and took their vows seriously. It's a terrific set of rules and it really shows how great God is - He knows everything and is looking out for us.
But there's one more thing: if a woman is unmarried and still lives with her father, her father can annul her vows as well. This is a huge win for fathers everywhere and I think it's a great rule from God.
Now, haters and losers may say that this is unfair, but believe me, many people are saying that it's a great way to keep everyone accountable. God bless America, and let's make vows great again!
