Alex Trebek: So, what brings you on Jeopardy today? Contestant: Well, Alex, I'd like to talk about the Bible! Alex Trebek: [Sighs] That's nice, but can we talk about something else? Contestant: I don't mean to be rude, but I'd really like to discuss 1 Kings 2. Alex Trebek: [Disappointed] Alright, go ahead. Contestant: In 1 Kings 2, King David is preparing to die, so he gives his son, Solomon, advice on how to rule wisely and justly. He then gives Solomon orders concerning the fate of Joab, who had been a long time adviser to David. He also charges Solomon to take care of Shimei, who had cursed David in the past. After David dies, Solomon is anointed king of Israel and Judah. He has Joab and Shimei executed for their offenses against David. Solomon then begins to show his wisdom and justice, refusing to punish the people of Benjamin and instead pardoning them. He also uses his wisdom to settle a dispute between two women who were claiming the same baby.
