"Listen up recruits! Daniel 1 is about a bunch of young Hebrews who were taken captive by King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon to serve in his palace. Daniel and his three buddies, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, refused to eat the king's food, so they asked the chief of staff to allow them to eat only vegetables and water. The chief of staff agreed and after 10 days, they looked healthier and better nourished than all the other captives. The Lord gave them knowledge and understanding of all sorts of literature and wisdom, and they became ten times better than all the other wise men in Babylon. So take that, Nebuchadnezzar!
