Folks, here's the deal. My father used to say, "Hosea 2 is about the Lord's judgement on Israel for their unfaithfulness." See here, Jack, the Lord is metaphorically calling Israel his wife, and he's not gonna put up with her infidelity! He tells his people that he's gonna punish them by withholding his love, and revoking all the good gifts he'd given them. He's gonna strip them of their possessions and make them wander in the wilderness for a time. He's even gonna take away the name of their land, Israel. C'mon, man! No malarkey! Then, in the end, the Lord promises to bring them back and to restore his love to them. That's Hosea 2. Literally. I'm not joking.
