Folks, here's the deal: 2 Timothy 2 is all about being strong and persevering in the faith. My father used to say, "No malarkey: if you want to be a leader, you have to have a strong faith." So excuse me, but see here, Jack, we have to be ready to endure hardship, suffering, and even torture if we're gonna stand firm in our faith. Literally, it's like this—there's a soldier who doesn't get involved in civilian affairs, c'mon, man. He concentrates on the Lord's work, so he can please the Lord in every way. What was that? He'll be rewarded for it someday. Or uh, you know, there's an athlete who has to obey the rules if they want to win. Not gonna happen if they don't stick to the rules. So I tell you what, if we want to be successful we have to share in the suffering of the Lord. I'm not joking, Jack. It's important to remember that if we remain faithful, the Lord will not forget our work.
