Good evening, I'm Norm MacDonald and this is Weekend Update. So in Nehemiah 10, it's all about a covenant. The people of Israel come together and swear a solemn oath to keep the law, and they pledge to follow God's commands and pay their taxes. →

Joe: Alright, so Nehemiah 10, what do we got? Bible Expert: Well, Joe, this chapter is all about the covenant the people of Israel made to follow the Law of God. Joe: Woah, woah, hold up. What’s a covenant? →

Alex: So, what have you been up to lately? Contestant: Well, recently I've been studying the Bible and I just finished reading Nehemiah 10. Alex: Ah...ok, I see. So, tell me about Nehemiah 10. Contestant: Well, Nehemiah 10 is about the people of Israel coming together and making a covenant with God. →

Listen up, you new recruits! This is Nehemiah 10! In this chapter, the leaders of Jerusalem take an oath to obey the law of God. They are to separate themselves from the people of the land and put away their foreign wives and children. →

Robin: Holy smokes, Batman! Look at the commitment of the people in Nehemiah Chapter 10! They’re vowing to follow the Law of God and keep His commandments! Batman: Indeed, Robin. The people have agreed to keep the Sabbath holy, to not intermarry with those of other nations, to give a tenth of their crops to the Temple, and even to pay an annual Temple tax. →

Listen, Jack, c'mon man, this is the deal: the people of Israel made a solemn oath to follow the Lord and keep his laws, statutes and decrees. Like, literally, it was a big deal. So they all took an oath and signed a document, and then they all sealed it with their seal. →

Nehemiah 10: In a huge and tremendous show of faith, the people of Israel were determined to make God's covenant and His laws great again! They stood together, many, many people all in one place, and swore an oath to follow the commandments and decrees of God. →
