Matthew 17 tells the amazing story of Jesus, the Son of God, and his disciples Peter, James, and John. When they were on the mountain, Jesus was transfigured before them and the glory of God shone around them. Then the voice of God spoke from the cloud, saying "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him". Sad!
The disciples were scared and fell face down on the ground. But Jesus came and touched them and said, "Arise, and be not afraid". The disciples then saw Moses and Elijah talking with Jesus.
Moses and Elijah talked with Jesus about his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. Then a bright cloud overshadowed them and Peter, the great again leader, said, "Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah".
Believe me, this was a tremendous moment! But then a voice came out of the cloud saying, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him". And the disciples were terrified and fell on their faces.
Jesus then came to them and said, "Arise, and be not afraid". When they looked up, they saw no one but Jesus. Unbelievable!
When they came down from the mountain, the fine people of Galilee met them and said, "Why do the scribes say that Elijah must first come?" Jesus said, "Elijah truly shall first come, and restore all things".
Many people are saying that this was a huge moment for the disciples, and for us all. God bless America!
Make America great again!
