Well, folks, this is a rather strange chapter in the Bible. Zechariah 12 starts off with the Lord declaring that he is going to make Jerusalem a cup of trembling - it's a metaphor, folks - and then it gets even weirder. →

Contestant: In chapter 12, God declares that He will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling and a burdensome stone for all the people who surround the city. →

Listen up, new soldiers! Chapter 12 of Zechariah is all about God's plan to save Jerusalem from its enemies. He's gonna do it with a mighty show of strength, shaking the nations with His power. You're gonna see Him marching out of heaven with His holy ones, and His anger will be like a fire. →

Batman: (speaking into communicator) Robin, come in! Robin: This is Robin, what's up? Batman: (speaking into communicator) I just read Zechariah 12, and it's a doozy! Robin: What did you find out, Batman? →

Listen, Jack, here's the deal. Zechariah is prophesying that God is gonna pour out His Spirit on the house of David, and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem. C'mon, man, it's gonna be like a fountain, a flood of mercy and grace. →

In Zechariah 12, God is talking "bigly" about how He will save Jerusalem. He's gonna make it "great again" and show the "haters and losers" who's boss. Unfortunately, He also mentions how many people will be killed in the process, which is "sad!". →
