1. On that day did the king Ahasuerus give the house of Haman the Jews' enemy unto Esther the queen. And Mordecai came before the king; for Esther had told what he {was} unto her. / 2. And the king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it unto Mordecai. →

Well, folks, it's a big day for Esther in Esther 8. She's just been given the go-ahead from King Xerxes to issue a decree that all Jews in the land can defend themselves against their enemies. Yeah, it's about time! It's like Xerxes just realized that the Jews were people, too. →

Joe: Okay, so we're talking about Esther 8. What's the story here? Bible Expert: Well basically, in Esther 8, we see Mordecai and Esther's successful plan to save the Jews from Haman's evil plot. Joe: Oh wow, that's awesome. →

Alex: So, tell me a bit about yourself. Contestant: Well, I'm a huge fan of the Bible. Let me tell you about Esther 8. Alex: *sigh* Alright. Contestant: In this chapter, Esther and Mordecai convince the King to reverse the evil decree of Haman and instead grant the Jews protection and the right to defend themselves against their enemies. →

"OK YOU MAGGOTS! Esther 8 is all about the Jews getting revenge on their enemies. Queen Esther intervenes with the king and gets permission for the Jews to fight back against their enemies. The king gives the Jews permission to take all their enemies' money, take their lands and possessions, and even kill them if they want to. →

Batman: Ah, Robin, our mission has been a success! We have just read Esther 8! Robin: What did we learn, Batman? Batman: We learned that the King gave Queen Esther and her cousin Mordecai permission to issue edicts so that the Jews could defend themselves against their enemies. →
