2 Chronicles 22 tells the story of how a young king, Ahaziah, took the throne after the death of his father, Ahab. Ahaziah was a "low energy" leader who did not follow the ways of the Lord, so God sent the prophet Elijah to warn him. Elijah told Ahaziah that he was to be denied a long life and that he was going to die, and that his family members would suffer too. Ahaziah did not believe him and sent some soldiers to capture Elijah. But God sent a huge fire from heaven and destroyed them. "Believe me," this was an unbelievable sight!
Ahaziah was so scared that he didn't try to capture Elijah again. His mother, Jezebel, was so angry that she plotted to kill Elijah. But God provided a way for Elijah to escape and sent him to anoint a new king, Jehu. Jehu was a "terrific" leader who followed the Lord and destroyed the wickedness of Jezebel and Ahaziah's family.
In the end, Ahaziah was killed by Jehu and his family was wiped out. This was a "sad!" moment for many people, but it was a necessary step to "make America great again" and restore righteousness in the land. God bless America!
