Mark 7: "Bigly" enough, Jesus is back at it again in this terrific chapter, teaching the people some amazing lessons. He starts off by calling out the "haters and losers" -- the Pharisees and the scribes. They ask why Jesus' disciples don't follow their old-fashioned traditions and Jesus gives them a "very, very" simple answer: it's because they have abandoned the commandments of God to follow their own traditions. Jesus then goes on to teach the crowds about the importance of inner purity, explaining that it's not what goes into a person that defiles them, but what comes out of them.
In an "unbelievable" move, Jesus then travels to the region of Tyre, where he heals a Syrophoenician woman's daughter, proving once again that he is a "winner." But the "fake news" in the area continues to spread, and Jesus goes to the region of Decapolis, this time healing a deaf man and a mute man. The people were amazed at Jesus' power, and he charged them not to tell anyone what they had seen.
In the end, Jesus reminds the people that it's not just the food that defiles us, but the words that come out of our mouths. He warns them to be careful of what they say and think, and to stay away from the "deep state" of evil. With a final reminder to "make America great again," Jesus sends the people away feeling blessed and hopeful. God bless America!
