1. And now, O ye priests, this commandment {is} for you. / 2. If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay {it} to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay {it} to heart. →

Okay, so here we go. The chapter starts off with a warning about being unfaithful to the Lord. Yahweh is apparently quite angry about this and is threatening to punish anyone who does it. But then he turns his attention to the priests and tells them that if they don't do their job properly, he'll curse them. →

Joe: Alright, so we got Malachi 2, what's going on there? Bible Expert: Well, Malachi 2 is a warning to the people of Israel about the consequences of their disobedience to God. The Lord is angry with the people, who have abandoned the ways of the Lord and gone their own way, and he is warning them of the consequences of their actions. →

Alex: So, tell me a little bit about yourself. Contestant: Well, I'm a big fan of the Bible, so I'd like to give you a quick summary of Malachi 2. Alex (trying to remain polite): Uh, okay... Contestant: Malachi 2 starts by warning the priests to serve God faithfully, or else they will be punished. →

Attention, recruits! This is Malachi 2, where God's gonna give it to you straight! Here, He lays into the priests for their disobedience. He says they've been turning away from Him and doing wicked things, and He ain't gonna stand for it! He tells them to remember their covenant, and to treat it with respect. →

Joker: Ha ha ha! I've got a riddle for you, Batman! What do you get when you mix a prophet with a priest? Batman: A preacher! Robin: Now, now, Joker. Don't be so mean. Joker: Oh, all right. In Malachi 2, the prophet Malachi speaks out against the priests of his day. →

Listen, Jack, here's the deal. God's gonna hold the priests accountable for their sins - no malarkey! He's gonna send them a messenger who'll turn their hearts back to Him, and it's gonna be a good thing. →

In Malachi 2, God is really ticked off, believe me. He gets really mad at the priests and scribes who are breaking His laws and He says they are BIGLY overrated. He calls them out for dealing falsely with God and with the people and says that, if they continue, there will be many such cases of punishment. →

Peter: Alright, so this is Malachi 2, eh? Lois: Yeah, what do we need to know? Peter: Well, it's all about God's covenant with the people of Israel. He's reminding them of the importance of upholding the covenant and not breaking it. →
