Joe: Alright, so we've got Psalms 86. Whatcha got?

Bible Expert: Well, this chapter is a prayer of David to God. He is asking that God would show him mercy and listen to his prayers, in spite of the trouble he is in.

Joe: Trouble? What kind of trouble?

Bible Expert: Well, he's surrounded by enemies who are persecuting him. He is asking God to show him His mercy and to deliver him.

Joe: Ok, ok. What else?

Bible Expert: David also expresses his faith in God, saying that He is the only true God and that no one else is like Him. He also expresses his confidence that God will answer his prayers and save him from his enemies.

Joe: Hey Jamie, Google this. Is there any evidence that David was really in trouble?

Jamie: (Looks it up) Yeah, Joe. There's actually a lot of evidence in the Bible that David was in trouble. He was surrounded by enemies, persecuted, and even had to flee from Jerusalem at one point.

Joe: Wow! That's wild. Anything else in this chapter?

Bible Expert: Yes, David also expresses his desire to praise and thank God for His goodness and mercy. He also asks God to teach him how to live according to His will, and to keep his promises. Finally, he asks God to show him His favor and to grant him peace and protection.
