Joe: Alright, so we have a Bible expert here with us today. What's the story in Genesis 39?

Bible Expert: Well Joe, it's the story of Joseph. He was sold into slavery by his brothers, who were jealous of him. He was taken to Egypt and sold to Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh.

Joe: Wow, that's wild.

Bible Expert: Yes, it is. Potiphar put Joseph in charge of his house and all that he had, and the Lord was with Joseph and made him successful in whatever he did.

Joe: How did Joseph respond to this success?

Bible Expert: Well Joe, he was a faithful servant and Potiphar saw that the Lord was with him and placed him in charge of his entire household. But then Potiphar's wife became attracted to Joseph and she tried to seduce him.

Joe: Yeah, what happened then?

Bible Expert: Joseph refused her advances and refused to sin against God. Potiphar's wife became angry and falsely accused Joseph of trying to rape her, and Potiphar had Joseph thrown into prison.

Joe: That's crazy.

Bible Expert: Yes, it is. But even in prison, the Lord was with Joseph and he was successful in everything he did. He even interpreted the dreams of two of his fellow prisoners, and when Pharaoh heard about it, he had Joseph brought to him. Pharaoh was so impressed with Joseph's wisdom that he made him ruler of all Egypt.

Joe: Damn, that's a wild story.

Bible Expert: Yes, it is. It's a great example of how God can use even the worst of circumstances for his glory.
