Joe: "Welcome back to the Joe Rogan Experience, my guests tonight are Bible Expert and long-time friend, Dr. John Smith. We're going to be talking about the Bible and we're going to start with Genesis 33. So, Dr. Smith, why don't you give us a brief overview of what happens in this chapter?"

Dr. Smith: "Sure. In this chapter, we see the reunion between Jacob and Esau. After a long absence, the brothers meet again. Jacob is fearful of Esau's anger, but Esau greets him warmly and offers him gifts. Jacob refuses the gifts, but Esau insists, so Jacob accepts them. They then make a covenant to not harm each other, and part ways."

Joe: "Wow! That's really interesting. So why do you think Esau was so willing to forgive Jacob and accept him back into his life?"

Dr. Smith: "That's a great question. I think it's because of Esau's generous nature. He was willing to let go of the past and accept his brother despite all that had happened between them."

Joe: "That's really profound. So what else happens in this chapter?"

Dr. Smith: "Well, Jacob moves his family to the city of Shechem. He also builds an altar and names it El-Elohe-Israel, which means “God, the God of Israel.”

Joe: "That's really cool. I'm surprised that Jacob was able to make peace with Esau and also build an altar to God. Jamie, quick Google search please - is El-Elohe-Israel still a name used in the Bible today?"

Jamie: "Yes, it is - it's still used in a few modern translations of the Bible."

Joe: "Interesting. Well, thanks for the insight, Dr. Smith. We'll be right back after a quick break. Stay tuned!"
