Joe: Alright so tell us about Jeremiah 43.

Bible Expert: Well, it's about a prophecy from Jeremiah to the people of Judah. God is angry with them for worshipping false gods and is warning them of the consequences that their actions will bring.

Joe: Whoa whoa! Consequences for worshipping false gods? What kind of consequences?

Bible Expert: Well, God is warning them that He will bring destruction and exile upon them. He's saying that if they don't turn back to Him, then He will bring the Babylonians to attack them and take them away as captives to Babylon.

Joe: Wow, that sounds pretty serious. What did the people of Judah do?

Bible Expert: Well, the people were afraid and they decided to go to Egypt instead of staying in Judah. They thought that by going to Egypt they would be safe from the Babylonians.

Joe: That's crazy! So, what happened?

Bible Expert: God sent Jeremiah to Egypt to prophesy against them and tell them that if they went to Egypt, then they would suffer the same fate as the people of Judah. They would be taken away to Babylon as captives.

Joe: Wow, that's pretty intense. Did they listen to Jeremiah?

Bible Expert: No, they didn't. They didn't believe Jeremiah and they continued on their way to Egypt. So, in the end, God did bring destruction and exile upon them, just as He had warned them.
