Joe: So what's happenin' in Jeremiah, chapter 25?

Bible Expert: Well, Jeremiah is delivering a message from God to the people of Judah. This message is a warning of the coming judgment because of their sin and rebellion against God. God tells them that He has already sent prophets to warn them, but they have refused to listen. He tells them that if they don't repent and turn back to Him, He will bring judgment on them and also on the nations around them.

Joe: Judgment? What kind of judgment? That sounds kinda harsh.

Bible Expert: Well, God says that He is going to bring a time of great distress upon them. He says that He will bring war, famine, and pestilence upon them, and that they will become a desolate wasteland and will be inhabited by wild animals. He also says that He will bring the Babylonian army against them and they will take the people into exile.

Joe: Wow, that's pretty intense. What else does God say in this chapter?

Bible Expert: God says that He will send His servant, Jeremiah, to every nation to deliver His words and that these words will be fulfilled. He also tells the people to listen to the words of Jeremiah and to turn back to Him and He will forgive them. Finally, He says that after seventy years the people will be allowed to return to their homeland.
